Summer Rhythm

The Summer Shift: Embracing a New Rhythm of Life

As summer rolls in, everything changes in our household. Tina is out of school. Vacation plans are made, the sun lingers longer, the pace slows down, and life seems to breathe a little easier. Schedules loosen. Evenings stretch. The hustle eases, replaced by cookouts, sitting and rocking on the side porch, and moments that aren’t measured by the clock.

There’s something sacred about this seasonal shift. It reminds me that we weren’t made to live in constant motion. The change of rhythm is a quiet invitation to rest, to notice, to reconnect—with ourselves, with others, and with God.

Ecclesiastes 3:1 puts it simply: “To everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven.” Summer, perhaps more than any other season, asks us to step back and pay attention to the moments we’re usually too busy to see.

My hope for you this summer is that this season may be more than a break in the calendar. May it be a time for rebalancing. Making space for conversations that aren’t rushed, for stillness that isn’t guilty, and for joy that isn’t scheduled.

A different rhythm is calling. Listen.

Grace and Peace,
